Bluetooth vs Wi-Fi

B, W Add comments

The Bluetooth, which is radio technology that simplifies communications between two or more internet devices, eases the data co-ordination between computers and internet devices. Wi-Fi, a wireless technology that people use in video games, home networks and mobile phones, assists in the connection of two or more electronic devices.

Some of Bluetooth’s founding members include Intel, Toshiba, Nokia, IBM and Ericsson. Bluetooth software is much slower than Wi-Fi and the two are incompatible. The former functions as a telecommunication specification in that it describes the interconnection mode of computers, digital assistants and mobile phones.

Electronic devices that require a Bluetooth connection to function have inexpensive transmitter and receiver modules installed in them. The modules function by providing the required communication protocols. The modules also function as a link between the gadgets and the communication network. This enables people to obtain download data from internet sources or from other similar devices. It is wireless, meaning that one does not have to use any connectors when downloading software. It is also inexpensive and requires less effort to activate and deactivate. Once activated, the Bluetooth automatically detects and connects to other gadgets that have Bluetooth software installed.

On the other hand, Wi-Fi, which is a wireless network technology, operates without any physical connections between receivers and senders. It mainly uses radio frequency to connect to other gadgets, which have the same connection. Once an antenna receives RF currents, the impact creates electromagnetic fields, which have the ability to transfer information by propagating through space. Gadgets fitted with Wi-Fi require access points to receive wireless signals. Computers and other apparatus have the ability to detect, receive and send signals to other computers. To have access points, the user needs to purchase and install wireless adapters into their appliances.

Some of the Wi-Fi applications include consoles found in video games, PDAs, operating systems, consumer electronics, home networks and mobile phones. Wi-Fi, alternatively referred to as IEEE 802. 11x, has the ability to connect to other appliances that have similar connections, but cannot connect to those that have Bluetooth wireless software. This is because their modes of data transmission are different and they use different receiving and sending mediums. Bluetooth is not able to detect distant gadgets as opposed to Wi-Fi, which can search and connect to appliances within a local area system. When an interruption in the transmission occurs, one may not be able to receive information.
